An Inheritance Renewed
Greystone is not just a band, and its existence didn't start with us. The band you hear and see in front of you is the physical form of an inheritance, an instinct passed down from sources both known and unknown across generations, locations, and celebrations. In its purest form, this instinct drives us to revitalize dreams that never got to be, frozen in generations past. These dreams are the desires that our predecessors never got to indulge, the carefree fantasies they never got to live out, and the risks they simply could not afford to take. This "Greystone Instinct” is why we're here. We channel the unimaginable sacrifice, inspiration, and motivation ingrained in our souls to take these dreams, revitalize them, and fearlessly make our way forward. Our inheritance turns these inward workings outward, so that you may see your own potential, beauty, grit, and power.
Greystone is the namesake we elected as the bedrock for our mission. We felt it fitting to build our music on a foundation that recalls the strong and iconic Chicago building so many of the city's residents have lived in, dreamed in, and sacrificed for (and still do!). It is the physical representation of the motivation of past generations to look beyond their barriers so their descendants may experience bounty. To us, the Greystone stands tall as a symbol of revitalization, grit, and love. We use that symbol as a reminder in all we do as a band.
Each of our band's members hail from different cultures, origins, and struggles. Before us, our respective families came to the city of Chicago with their own hopes, dreams, and desires. Some came to fruition in the past, and others laid dormant until now. Simply put, we hope to make their sacrifices and struggles worth it. We will. We must.
Meet the Progeny
Established in 2024, Greystone is a five piece alternative rock band from the southwest side of Chicago. Formed by three members of the Hernandez family, dad Mark (drums) worked with daughter Alana (vocals) and son Mark II (lead guitar) to kickstart a secret passion begging to be expressed. They released their debut album, A Million Grains of Sand, in late October 2025. Around the time of their release, they would complete their lineup with the additions of bassist Isaac Gibson and rhythm guitarist Jeshurun Tutson. Together, their different inspirations and perspectives unite through the music and the relentless desire to create better.
